A book about how design takes shape.
The starting point is a poster commission for the exhibition “Inside Out & Upside Down: Posters from CalArts 1970–2019”. Scott Massey combines archive material, layers images and develops new compositions from them. The book follows this work step by step, alongside conversations and essays. A hardcover and thread sewing bring the richly layered image and text sequences together.
